Band

You've probably heard that our school has a band where kids can play instruments, well today I am going to tell you a little about it and what I play. I have been in band since fifth grade and I really like it. I play in the percussion section. We play the drums, xylophones, and a bunch of tiny instruments. My favorite to play is the vibraphone. You may have seen it before, it is the big brownish colored one. It is also really long so you kind of have to walk and play it. Right now we are focusing on playing three songs for the Winter concert. We are playing three songs for the Winter concert. One song we are playing is Jingle Bell Rock. For that song, I am on the snare drums with Olivia. The part did not sound very good at all so Mr. Shumaker helped us change it so that it sounds better. Another song we are playing is The Tempest. It is supposed to be like a wild storm. At first, I was playing the xylophone, but I just switched to play bells so Annika could play the timpani. The...

Thanksgiving

On Thanksgiving, my family is going back to Missouri. If you read my last story you know I go to Missouri a lot. When we get there I'm not for sure where we are going, but I know we will be seeing both sides of the family. On Thanksgiving day we are going to my mom's side of the family for a Thanksgiving dinner. I am excited about that because I will get to see my cousins and my great grandma. Also, they have a dinner there every year and everyone brings all different types of food that is so good. We will also be going to my dad's side of the family. I don't think my grandma is having a Thanksgiving dinner, but my great aunt might. My great aunt's name is Teresa, but we call her Sashie. (I don't know why) She hosts parties a lot for the family, and we usually go over there for Easter. I am also excited to see my cousins on my dad's side because the last few times we've been to Missouri we haven't been able to see them. We also might be going over to...

What Teachers Really Do (Part 4)

This is the final part to my story What Teachers ReallyDo. "Olivia picked up the glove and then we realized her fingerprints are on it now! How would we get a glove without getting our finger prints on it? "Well, There is still one part that doesn't have anyones fingerprints on it," I said. "The inside..." "Hopefully that works, lets go!" Claire said. So, we ran out of the office an dover to the teachers lounge. I put the glove on inside out and reached to open the door. "What are you doing?!" We heard someone yell. It scared us, so we ran in the girls bathroom. We carefully watched out the doorway and Mr. Burchfeild was upset with another teacher. She was holding a clipboard and trying to write things down as he talked. She was also very tall and thin. None of us recognized her, but we were reliefed he wasn't yelling at us. We couldn't really tell what they were talking about, but from what I heard they had a plan to remodel...

What Teachers Really Do (Part Three)

"...Okay, students, go to your fifth-period classes and your teachers should be there." Miss Anderson said, but she wasn't right. I grabbed my things and headed to industrial tech with Claire and Olivia. When we got there Mr. Bond was nowhere to be seen. We called his name a couple of times and looked around the room too. Then we checked all around the school but he was still nowhere to be seen. Then we realized we had one room left to check, the teachers' lounge..." We were kind of scared to open the door, I mean we had no idea what could be right behind it. I put my hand on the doorknob and twisted it to open. Then, we heard a loud "beep." We carefully stepped in the door and we found out what is in the teachers' lounge. Everyone was so shocked. There wasn't a food buffet, or a dance party, nothing like that. It was just a plain old room with some tables and Mr. Bond was at one of them. He was just eating his lunch. When we got in there he sa...

Missouri

If you didn't know I was born in Missouri. My family moved to Iowa when I was a little under a year old, but we go back to visit a lot. Most of my family lives in Missouri. We are actually are going there today after school. To get there it is a four to five-hour drive, but we usually just sleep, watch tv, or listen to the radio on the way there. When we get there we are probably going to go straight to my cousin Collen's football game. I don't know what school he goes to but it's in Kansas City. We were going to go to his football game last week, but he hurt himself somehow. Anyways we are going to stay at his family's house that night. They have five kids in all. They have Maddie (Who I've never met), Collin (I think he's 15 years old), Marie (We are just a few days apart) Drew (He is 9 I think), and Marcus (Who was just born last year.)  Also, the parents are Drew and Sarah. When we go to their house we usually order a couple pizzas and stay up past midni...

What Teachers Really Do (Part 2)

This is part 2 to my recent story What Teachers Really Do. "...We ran into the gym, but when we got there we saw something that blew our minds!" It was the craziest thing we've ever seen! It was also so noisy. How did we not hear that? There were colorful lights everywhere and there was a giant disco ball. All the teachers were wearing nice outfits and they looked like they were having so much fun. The place was so crazy a celebrity was even in there and you'll never guess who it was. Taylor Swift was having a concert for all the teachers in the gym! Mr. Meester was jamming out right by the stage and yelling "I love you Taylor!", Miss Anderson was dancing on the stage with her, Mrs. Merklin was crying tears of joy, and Mrs. Howard was calling her sister to tell her how fortunate she was. When they all saw us they just stopped. They all seemed frozen. "What is this?" Someone yelled. "You couldn't have invited us?" Then we heard on th...

What Teachers Really Do.

Hi guys, today I shared with you my story I made from the writing prompt in Miss. Anderson's room. Here it is: Today we were in class and Miss. Anderson said she needed to go grab something from the teacher's lounge. She quickly walked out of the room and we all started to wonder what do teachers do in the teacher's lounge. They are in there all the time. What's the "important business" they have to go and do. I think they have a big dessert buffet there and they go to eat all the time. I wonder what food they have? Do you think they have a cake or a chocolate fountain? My ideas were endless. Just like Miss. Anderson's time in the teacher's lounge. It had been ten minutes and she still wasn't back yet. I started to think a little more. What if all the teachers decided to go to the teacher's lounge and stuff their faces full of food? twenty minutes had gone by and by now everyone was talking and being loud. Someone even opened the door to Mrs. ...
